Primarily acrylic, Hard Candy was on display in 2025 at Gloria Delson Contemporary Art in DTLA, CA. It is modeled after classic landscapes that use violet atop an orange underpainting to achieve such depth as a sky. Crystals are carved into the paint, while charcoal pencil adds squiggles of interest. It's name, derived from colors, was inspired by one of my favorite T-shirts by Paul Frank called Hard Candy, in which a peppermint candy had arms, legs, and nunchucks.
